Historical re-enactments, pioneer demonstrations, crafts, music, food,
and family fun along the beautiful Maumee River

The annual Applebutter Fest is held on the second Sunday of October. We realize that the Fest can cause some inconvenience, but the benefits to the Grand Rapids community are tremendous. Many of our nonprofit groups could not continue their services to the community without the funds that the Fest provides.

The Village of Grand Rapids Has a Few Parking
Regulations for That Day:

  • Front Street between Beaver and West Streets will be closed 4:00 pm on the Saturday before the Fest; these streets will reopen 5 pm on Sunday when the Fest ends.
  • 7:00 am on the Sunday of the Fest, the entire village will be closed off, and all vehicles will be sent to the Fest parking lots. Free shuttle service will be provided into the Village.

Entering/Leaving/Parking Passes

Your driver's license will get you in and out of the Village if you have a Grand Rapids address. All residents receive three parking passes by mail from the Grand Rapids Village office. If you have any questions, please let us know.  Contact: information@grandrapidsohio.com .

We have many guests visiting Grand Rapids during the Applebutter Fest, enjoying a variety of activities and shopping at the numerous craft booths, food vendors, restaurants, and shops in town. On that day our Village is a very busy place, and we appreciate your continued support of this vital fundraiser for our community—thank you!

ABF Apple Peeling

Come on out and enjoy this community activity! Help peel the apples that are needed for THE BIG STIR and for APPLEBUTTERFEST SUNDAY!

Apple PEELING dates at the Grand Rapids Township Fire Hall:
  • First Peeling (for apple butter made prior to the Fest): Thursday, September 22
  • Second Peeling (for apple butter to be made during the Fest): Thursday, October 6

Times are 6 am to 4 pm on both dates.

We use mechanical peelers, but please bring a paring knife for trimming and a dishpan with you. Lunch will be served.

The Big Stir at the Kryder Farm

Saturday, September 24

The kettles are started at 6:00 AM and stirrers are needed at 8:30 AM. Canners are needed for the afternoon shift beginning at noon. Everyone who comes is asked to bring a covered dish for the big potluck lunch. The BIG STIR is a great way to make new acquaintances and renew old ones. Bring your family! We will work until finished but should be done by 5:00 PM. Call Deb Archambo at 419-832-0213 to volunteer for either the Big Stir or one of the peelings.
