WW II Encampment

The goals of the Applebutter Fest WWII Encampments are to educate the public and honor the memory of soldiers of World War II through the display and demonstration of the uniforms, weapons, equipment, and tactics used is World War II.

There will be many authentic WWII vehicles at the encampment: land-to-sea amphibious unit (Tom Price, owner), half track truck (John Cheney, owner), US Jeep  with 30 cal. machine gun (Frank Pamalski and Son, owners), and a Sherman tank.

Re-enacting groups include the German mountain troops (Mark Pacholski, coodinator) and US WWII GIs (Bruce Simmet, coordinator and weapons specialist).  Civilians will be represented with the French Resistance (Dawn Simmet and Elly Hulme).

Do you have original WWII equipment or memorabilia you'd like to display at the Fest? We are always looking for individuals who would like to represent the different nationalities in the WWII Encampment. There is no fee to participate but we do need to hear from you in advance.

Due to the heavy traffic and tens of thousands of people that attend the Applebutter Fest it is important to note that there are certain guidelines that must be followed.

  • Any display in the WWII Encampment Area must be set up either on Saturday after 12 pm or Sunday morning before 6:30 am.
  • Nothing can be removed from the area until at least 5:30 pm. This area gets extremely crowded during the day and especially at the end of the festival as people from the canal area filter through the WWII Encampment Area as they are trying to pack up their equipment. Your vehicles and any large trailers will need to be parked in one of the outlying lots.

For further information or to discuss any ideas, please contact Daryl Rodney at roddecker54@sbcglobal.net.

We thank you for your interest in being part of the living history World War II Encampments!
