Because Grand Rapids is a small town that is essentially shut down the day of Applebutter Fest, parking lots have been set up along the various routes into town.  These lots are identified on the map below.  Buses are available to transport visitors from these lots to the downtown venues.  Several of the lots are handicapped-accessible.

The ONLY fee for Applebutter Fest is a $15 per vehicle parking fee.  We are most appreciative of those, who use the official lots, as the revenue is used exclusively to pay for services, such as security, EMS, sanitation, transportation, and trash management. Without this revenue, there would be no Applebutter Fest.

There are individuals and businesses, who set up parking lots at their location and charge a lower rate. None of these, however, contribute to Applebutter Fest or help defray Applebutter Fest expenses. This loss of revenue reduces the funds available for our local non-profit organizations.

The Village of Grand Rapids, Sheriff's Office, and Applebutter Fest Committee take the safety and security of our Applebutter Fest visitors very seriously. We have thousands of visitors, who are walking the Village streets on the day of Applebutter Fest.    Each year, these groups jointly review prior years' experience, as well as potential outside risks, and make adjustments, as needed.

For 2019, the Village of Grand Rapids has instituted the following restrictions for Applebutter Fest:
  • The entire Village is closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.  All non-residents will be directed to Applebutter Fest parking lots.  Shuttle bus service and handicapped accessible vans are available from the parking lots into the Village.
  • Front Street between Beaver Street and West Street is closed from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
  • The River Bridge (Route 295) remains open to pedestrians and to vehicular traffic at the discretion of the Wood County Sheriff's Department
  • Village residents may enter the Village from the East on Route 65 to Sycamore and Fourth Street, from the South on Pratt Lane to Third Street, from the West on Route 65 to Pratt Lane, or from the North on Rt 295.  They must present a valid driver’s license that shows a Village address or an official Village-supplied parking pass that shows the resident's Village address to enter.
